Patriotism and tax returns
These days, take a walk around the office of any organization and you will notice that it is the 'rent receipt' season. For organizations which collect medical bills on an annual basis, this is the 'medical bill' season as well.
We are the citizens of
In my opinion, apart from people serving in public services such as defense, police, govt. hospitals etc, the ordinary citizen can contribute towards nation through taxes. For me, this is the translation of word patriotism into action.
So, each time we are outraged after Mumbai attacks, train blasts etc, we must remember that it is us who refused to contribute and thus our policemen fight terrorists with War War II guns, our soldiers and common people die due to poor medical facilities in hospitals, flooded villages do not have proper rescue response…we failed to translate words into action. Why should we blame politicians for failing to translate theirs?
People get the rulers that they deserve. So, we have our share of politician and we have our attacks and thousand other woes.
We want things to change, nation to be stronger, better. But we refuse to shoulder the responsibility. We are satisfied with blaming the politicians, govt. officials etc.
So, the next time there is an attack or a calamity or disaster, brace for 2 weeks of talk and get ready for the next movie or cricket match scheduled 1 month later.
I think Dilli 6 releases this Friday...
First step...
Today, I saw that the season is back in full swing. So, I am compelled now...to put my thoughts in words, see them evolve and share them.
As far as the season is concerned, I will tell you about it tomorrow...
